Oh, Target

I have always liked getting some clothes from Target, along with a lot of other things!  I recently stopped by for one quick thing, and decided to check out some clothes as I haven’t in a while.  I found some things I like, but unfortunately they didn’t fit!  Too bad, because I loved them and would’ve purchased them.

Loved, loved this!  I was looking for a ruffle bottom coat, and this answered my call for one.  The XXL size I normally wear from Target wasn’t going to cut it, though.  :(

So then I found that Target carries a new line of Spanx bathing suits that are fun and a great idea!  I tried this top on in XL, and it was just a little off…my chest was really trying to escape too much.  And I thought, “Oh, I’ll just grab an XXL and be oh so happy that I found an awesome swim suit!”  Nope.  They only go up to XL.

So bottom line, I didn’t get any clothes from my Target trip.  They definitely have some cute things, like the jeans that they have a new number system for but still seem too similar (apple body types just can’t catch a break!)  The thing that sucks most about Target now is that their plus size section is pathetic, and I don’t think that XXL that used to work is going to be around much longer…

March Shoedazzle Showroom

I can’t believe it’s March!  Tomorrow I’m doing a cake tasting, and possibly an engagement shoot on Sunday.  And so much more in between that!  Anyways, here’s some shoes!

The extras:

Undeniably there are some pretty shoes, but almost all of their shoes now are 5”+ heels, and I am just not going to buy some huge heels that I won’t be able to walk in…

That 80’s Style

I am not a fan of 80’s style…but for some reason for my friend’s 80’s themed birthday party, I did put out a smidgen of effort….

Oh gawd.  That hair style is pretty much how it was when I was 5.  It was fun, at least!

Wednesday Wants

So much overtime!  It’s been a rough two weeks, and I’ll probably have more…but it’ll pay off, because I need to buy some tickets to California!

I love this because this can be done up all formal, or a little more casual.  They also have this in yellow if you want to jump right into Spring!

Ooh la la!  This is a fun Grecian, one shoulder top!  It’s kind of simple in a way, but with enough fun details (and length!) to make this girl happy.

I love sweatshirts, and this one has more style than the ones I normally wear!  And again, the length really works for me, too!.

This is kinda fancy, but in an easy way.  Pretty, soft color and the fancy way to do bling!  Just think of all the bottoms you can pair it with…black bottoms, skinny jeans, or a simple but poofy light colored skirt.

A Bustier For The Bride

So the only bustiers/long line bras I had tried on are from the Bridal stores, and somehow they just don’t seem like they quite do the trick for my bust.  They just kinda sit there and don’t actually hold up anything.  And for some reason most of them are what I can’t help but think is that quilted mattress fabric.  What’s up with that?

Before I even though I’d be writing about structural underthings, I decided to search for advice on bustiers from other plus size brides.  That’s what I do, because you know Google is your friend.  Luckily, I found this post from Offbeat Bride.

This was the most helpful information I found on the topic!  I love that these options could actually work and would be usable after the wedding, because I have known brides who didn’t ever wear their bridal bustier again.

This bra I really love, but I ordered a cup size smaller than I wear and the cups were a bit too big.  I really love the bra and want it to fit, but it seems to be discontinued…like I got the last one or something.  Weird.  Anyways, is it bad if I just put in a few stitches to modify it?

This one actually worked better for me, but only because the other one was too big.  The back went lower than I expected, but I suppose that is good (though it gives me a little back fat.)  It also pooches out a tad under the bust, but it’s still better than the others I had tried on.  I wore it under my dress I wore to a friend’s prom party and it worked out pretty well.  The next test is to wear it while trying on wedding gowns!

The author of the wedding bra post also mentioned that she coupled her longline bra with Spanx.  I think I’d go with this half slip, because frankly, I want to be able to use the bathroom.  Just sayin’.

A Prom Party

My amazing friends decided to throw a cheesy prom party!  Most of the girls were all for it, but only the dapper dressing fellows were interested.

Once the date was set for the prom, I went on a wild hunt for prom dresses at thrift stores all over our area.  It’s not hard to find them, but it’s hard to find them in my size.

After searching a number of thrift stores, I finally found one, and I kinda like it!  I had a lot of fun and felt nice in a long gown.  Might keep this $15 dress around after a trip to the dry cleaners!

Wednesday Wants

We’re finally all done moving!  So not done unpacking.  Got most of my clothes put away, and now my closet and dresser are lookin kinda empty (mostly because I have a walk in closet now!)

I think Ruche has expanded their plus size line, and I like that!  This dress has that fun skirt and can be dressed up with fun accessories or casual’d down for a day at the office with a cardigan!  I think every girl should have a fun red dress.

Here’s a very similar style that’s got calmer colors and might be a little more flattering, but also show a little more of that cleavage.  If you want to tone down that neckline, wear a lace trimmed or even a plain cami underneath.

This is just cute to wear over a tank top!  It’s called a bedroom jacket, and I think that sounds kinda silly.

I know this sounds silly, but I can imagine going to the farmers market or something in this dress.  Like a happy casual weekend just strolling through the city.  Oh, hello real world.  But just wait ‘till you get here Spring, I’m gonna knock your socks off!

Advice For 2012

This is simple and some might consider silly, but I loved the advice A Girl, A style offered for a more charmed life:

1. Don’t save your favourite things for ‘a special occasion’.

2. Whenever you have a spare day, act as though it’s your birthday.

3. Practise random acts of kindness.

4. Add loveliness to your home.

5. If you’re in wardrobe rut, make an effort to do your hair and put on your cutest heels for no particular reason at all.

6. Don’t let grey skies get you down.

7. Don’t get stuck in a grey rut; tweak your everyday routines to make the special rituals.

8. One day every week (without fail), go on a date with someone you love.

9. Treasure small moments of happiness.

10. If you’re feeling uninspired, broaden your horizons.

Read all the details for each tip!  Do you think you’ll try these?  I love that they’re pretty small things that can easily make you feel better every day for the rest of 2012.

More Lookbook Looks

More fun inspiration from Lookbook because I can never get enough of the creative styles on there!

Here’s how you make a mini dress winter appropriate!  And I admit I tend to like badass styles…

I love this outfit…sequins, in a classy way!  Wouldn’t you love for your butt to sparkle like that?

I love this fun daytime outfit, and the top and belt are DIY!  And I do have nude colored pumps similar to those.  ;)
